"A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself."
~ Josh Billings

CALLIE -- Summer 2003.  From Kingsville Shelter, right ahead of Hurricane Claudette, thanks to wonderful rescue volunteers. S/W female Sheltie X, about 1-1.5yo. Possibly Sheltie-Doxie mix. She was very scared in the shelter, but is bouncy, friendly, and happy in foster care: thrilled to be in rescue. She is now UTD, spayed, and tested HW-; foster mom says she is definitely housetrained and hysterically funny. Callie loves, adores, and worships toys: plush toys, tug-toys, squeaky toys, any toys. She is so in love with toys, which she's had flying through the air since she got to her foster home, that she has to be reminded to eat her dinner. Callie enjoyed the dog show and captured hearts with her cute personality and her toy antics at the booth. In fact, she also captured her new family's hearts and now lives in the Dallas area with her thrilled mom and dad.
CALLIE 2 --Fall 2003. From the SPCA, Callie is approximately 4yo, S/W, very small at 12-13", 13.3#.  Callie had hook worms and an ear infection we treated.  She also had demodectic mange, which is not contagious but is the inherited type that flares up during extreme stress. She was successfully treated for it. She and Maddie were picked up together by the SPCA. From the appearance of their coats, both girls were being kept outdoors in their previous lives. She is an active, lively girl and has been happily adopted along with Carly below in a loving home where mom & dad cherish them both as they deserve. The family reports that Callie's coat is coming in nicely; she is healthy and beautiful.
CAMERON -- Winter 2002. From Harris County Shelter, handsome 5yo mahogany S/W male. His teeth seem filed from chewing on a wooden or metal cage, where he may have been confined in the past.  He tested HW+, but went through treatments without incident. He was underweight but is filled out now on good nutrition. Cameron is a very sweet, beautiful boy who gets along with other pets and adores children. He cannot get enough love, freely giving kisses, wanting to be close to his humans.  He is an extremely happy, active dog. After months of recovery and waiting, Cameron was finally adopted by a family that fell completely in love with him. His family reports they are all having a wonderful time, and that he is never going to be without love and devotion again.
CARA -- Summer 2005. Beautiful Cara was found in mid-town Houston and relinquished by the finder to our program after attempts to locate the owners failed. She is a shaded S/W, about 3yo, 14", but only 11.2#, so she's missed a few meals in her journey. She also had an URI, and her foster family had to get her treated quickly, but she recovered beautifully. Her foster family says she fits right in, gets along well with the other dogs, is eating and playing happily, loves to play with her human in the back yard and go for walks. Cara now has her own family to make sure she is never again alone on city streets.
CARLY--Fall 2003. From HCAC who relinquished to us, Carly was SO thrilled to be rescued; very sweet and outgoing; greeted her rescuer with great joy and lots of kisses. She is 2-3yo, S/W, 18" and 50#; a very solid, oversized Sheltie. She is missing part of her tail, possibly a congenital defect; possibly a bit of Aussie in her background. Fortunately, she tested HW-, but she did have hookworms we treated her for.  She is extremely playful, good-natured, and affectionate: freely gives her paw in greeting; adores children. She is very needy of her human and protective of her territory with them. Carly came to the 5th Anniversary Picnic and thoroughly enjoyed herself.  She has been happily adopted along with Callie above and is an adoring forever home.  Both girls are in behavior training programs: mom & dad report they are all learning a lot and completely bonded. Carly is increasingly gorgeous; mom and dad are thrilled both girls are part of their family.
CARMEN  -- Winter 2003. S/W female; sleek and svelte. Carmen had been wandering alone for four weeks in Spring and brought into our program after a rescue call, and ads had been placed throughout the neighborhood to no response. She's a sweetheart with a distinctive face. Approximately 1yo old, sparkly white teeth, full of kisses and sheltie pats; knows basic obedience; is warm, friendly, loves to play. Carmen has been happily adopted and is enjoying her new family and walks with her mom. This sweet girl is no longer a vagabond. wandering alone, but a deeply cherished companion Sheltie as she deserves.
CASEY -- Winter 2002. From Pasadena; found in December and turned into HSS after he had been unclaimed. Gorgeous, 18mo, S/W Male; full collar, four socks, partial blaze. Casey is very playful, affectionate, and sweet; shakes hands and rolls over for belly rubs; very active with lots of Sheltie grins and kisses. Casey is now the beloved dog of mom, dad, and three growing kids. He plays non-stop with his 10yo brother and sleeps at the foot of his sister's bed. If mom slows down for an instant, he is in her lap for cuddles. The family is absolutely ecstatic.
CASEY 2 (Formerly Jack 2) -- Fall 2004 Casey is from Bastrop, where he was picked up as a stray. He is a sweet, adorable 1.5yo S/W. Very engaging: he sat in the back seat of the rescue car with his head over the back, watching over another rescue in the crate. In addition to his clinical work-ups, he needed a bath, as he arrived in quite a mess after being out on his own for a while. In his foster home, Jack is gentle, smart, loving; very quick and responsive to commands, wonderful with small children, whom he seems to understand completely. Casey was adopted by his foster home when everyone realized they were a perfect match for one another.
CASSANDRA--Fall 2003. From Texas City shelter, Cassandra landed in rescue right before the Thanksgiving holidays; fortunately, we were able to spring her so she didn't have to spend all of them in the shelter. Cassandra was thin at 32# on a 17" frame. She has had puppies in her day. She has beautiful, haunted dark eyes; is shy and even a bit frightened in front of the camera, but she responds enthusiastically to petting; knows 'sit' on command and sweetly gives her paw. Unfortunately, she tested HW+ and had pyometra, a severe uterine infection we are treating. Though her coat is sparse from being so sick, she is a classic S/W Sheltie, very pretty now, will be gorgeous when she fully coated. Cassandra is now well, alert, active, and happy; she was adopted by her loving new dad and now also has Aidan has her classy brother.
CASSIE -- Summer 2000. From Atascocita where she had been dumped as a half-grown Sheltie in a resident's fenced back yard. She is a lovely, sweet 2yo S/W spayed female in excellent physical health. She was very much still a youngster with puppy coat and looks when she came into the program. However, she was emotionally and physically abused and was in foster care for several months. This precious girl needed lots of TLC as she became the Sheltie she is meant to be, but her new mom brought her along with grace and the gentle care Cassie needed until she came out of her shell. She recently came to our spring picnic, and though a bit shy, as were many of the dogs in that raucous outing, she enjoyed herself.
CEDES -- Summer 2004. From Montgomery County Animal Control Shelter, Cedes (formerly Sonia) came into the program as an adorable, delicate 6mo Golden S/W with full collar. She and what we believe is her brother, Sammy, came into the shelter together as strays--in horrific condition: painfully thin and with severe skin infections, yet still friendly and loving despite their prior abuse. Cedes was a rangy pup: 14" and only 13# because she has not had enough to eat in her life, much less proper care. Her puppy immunity had protected her, though, and she was HW-. She responded beautifully to treatment and proved to be a sweetly responsive girl. Cedes was adopted by a family who adores her, and four months later she had become her healthy, gorgeous self. With her loving family, she learned all the new routines with puppy energy and sweetness. She is dearly loved as she deserves to be, and her family has sent this new photo of her looking beautiful and happy. One year update: Cedes is showcased in the Before and After Page and on the main page of the web site in her full glory, and her family is now fostering for the program.
CHARLIE -- Winter 2003. Gorgeous 4yo male CHW. Charlie's family reluctantly relinquished him to our program because of the owner's developed allergies. He is affectionate and sweet -- a total love sponge. Charlie loves to be brushed and is very relaxed. Color-headed whites are rare and highly prized: Charlie combines the beauty of the CHW with a lovely disposition, though he is terribly afraid of thunderstorms and needs to be reassured during them. His family fell completely in love with him and have given him his forever home with the love and support he deserves.
CHARLEY -- Spring 2000. OR due to family member's allergies. Charley is a 3yo female, S/W. This lovely girl has an excellent disposition; is very friendly, great with kids and other dogs. She has been adopted by long-time HSS members, who also adopted Payton. Charley has really warmed up to her new home and siblings, Nikki and Banjo. She's flashing her sheltie smile and doing the 'sheltie wiggle.'  Charley and Banjo have become best friends and they are always together.
CHASE -- Fall 2001. Found on the south side of Houston: 5yo S/W male. He has an adorable personality who wins everyone over immediately. Chase is a sweetheart: extremely affectionate; loves to cuddle, sleep with his caretaker, and give his paw for more petting. Chase also plays fetch and is a happy, outgoing boy. He has been adopted by HSS family members and is enjoying his walks, playtime, and sleeping on the bed in his new forever home. He recently came to the reunion picnic where he was admired by all and had a wonderful time.
CHEE -- This beautiful youngster is an OR because he was far too large and active for a senior owner. Chee is a 1yo S/W with a full white collar. He is very healthy and has obviously had excellent care from his former home. Chee's foster mom says he plays all day long with the resident Shelties, loves ropes and toys; chase and tug-o-war. He is delightful: extremely smart and trainable; very sweet, but a lively young boy who needed an active but patient, knowledgeable home willing to take him through obedience training. He is obviously thrilled with his new family, who are equally delighted with their boy.
CHELSEA -- Fall 2000. 13# peaches and white Sheltie-Papillon female, about 11 months old. She came to us from Montgomery Shelter where she was turned in by her owners and was devastated to find herself so betrayed. Chelsea is sweet and friendly, quite the character. She adores other furkids, but is also devoted to her humans, very protective of her home and esp. children with whom she is wonderful.  She is smart as a whip, learning obedience commands, and loving her treats. Chelsea was seen on the national Papillon web site to which we had linked her description, and her new family moved quickly to adopt her. Chelsea is now a Mississippi Belle.  Her mom is working on clicker training with Chelsea -- when she's not buying toys and giving tummy rubs.
CHELSEY -- Spring 2005. This sweet girl from Pasadena shelter is a small Tri, with possibly some Border Collie mix in her background; she's young, under 1yo, 15",  20#; needed to gain some weight, which she has done in foster care. Like most dogs suddenly finding themselves in shelters, she was terrified; but as soon as she came into rescue and went to our clinic, she relaxed and began socializing with her new human friends; she has visibly brightened in her pictures and has proven to be a sweet, lively girl. In foster care she worked herself right in with the family and has proven to be very sweet and friendly with both humans and other dogs: this girl wants to PLAY. She is an active dog who needs something to do and would be great in agility work or fly ball. But she also settles right down at night and enjoys sleeping in foster mom and dad's room. Chelsey came to the dog show and enjoyed visiting with everyone and playing with her tennis ball. Her foster mom reports that she "would make a great pet for a family with young children; she adores our neighbor's young girl." Chelsey was adopted by a family who had recently lost their BC, and Chelsey was the only dog they had their eyes on: she was happily adopted just in time for Christmas.
CHER -- Summer 2002. From Texas City Shelter: Itty-Bitty-Cutie Girl, S/W, about 5yo. She is very petite, super sweet and cuddly; great with kids. Cher was a little sad after all the changes in her life,  but she responded quickly to TLC, beginning to relax and perk up.  She has been adopted by a local media personality who is thrilled with her. She has become an adored member of the family and goes everywhere with them.
CHICO -- Spring 2005. This beautiful 1.5yo Golden S/W boy was an OR to HCAC because the family moved into an apartment. His rescuer, Jeany, reports that Chico was very glad to get out the shelter and is a "wonderful, wiggly-butt, waggly-tail, kissy-face, rambunctious boy with a sheltie grin from ear to ear." Chico is very lively in a delightful way. He gave his paw when Linda was getting him out of the crate for pictures and looked at her soulfully. It was the "If I give you my paw, will you be nice to me" look. Chico moved into foster care immediately, is doing beautifully, and will not have any further worries about people being nice to him. He is a wonderful boy who loves to play, gets along well with other dogs, and likes to snuggle with his humans, laying his head in their laps, and giving enthusiastic kisses at every opportunity. His favorite games are tug-o-war and chase so he has an excuse to tear around the back yard. Though he can be a bit shy at first, he warms up quickly: he always wants to be near his humans and lies by their feet when foster mom & dad are working on the computer. He likes to sleep under the bed, close to his people but in his own den. Chico was adopted by his delighted family and now lives in Corpus. He has mom and dad and Yorkie sibling, Tinker. "He has really fit in perfectly with us, or we have with him. He is the perfect baby for us. He is learning manners, sits and sort of stays, but that is a hard one.  He walks better on the leash and he is so smart. He didn't really like the frisbee so we have given up on that for now and are just enjoying tug of war, chase, and fetch. We have learned he loves the "Hurl a Squirrel"  and he gets new toys almost every week to keep him happy.  He has a basket where he can choose what he wants to play with. He will even put one back sometimes before he gets another one!  He does have at least 2-3 walks per day depending on the weather and the heat. Early morning and late evening for sure and he loves that.   He loves running in the back yard and chasing the Polaris around the pool but he does not want to get in the pool. Chico is such a joy, so loving and fun. We sleep together at night and he will put his head on the pillow beside me and cuddle up!  We are just inseparable and so happy! Thank you so much for saving him and letting us have him join our family. He went to the ranch with us and saw cows and horses, he was quite interested in them but of course we didn't let him out of the truck to chase them. He is so beautiful and just smiles all the time, gives kisses freely and so loving. He is just perfect!  He has also become much more socialized and less scared of people as friends come over and love on him too.  He stand still for a bath, loves to be brushed and have tummy rubs; he lets me brush his teeth and doesn't mind nail clipping.  He is just AWESOME! and we love him so much!  I Know he loves us too and he is very happy here."

CINDY LU -- Summer 2006. Cindy Lu was 9 years old when she came into our program, 31 pounds, spayed, and she has only 3 legs.  She was an OR to the Bryan shelter.  Unfortunately Cindy Lu tested HW+ and had to go through treatment.  She has adapted very well to having 3 legs and gets around fairly easily.  She loves adults, kids, other dogs and cats.  Cindy Lu completed her HW treatment without complications.  She was adopted by a wonderful couple and now has three male doggy siblings.  Recent updates report that everyone is very happy.

CHLOE -- Summer 2003. Adorable 1-1.5yo itty-bitty Tri girl from BARC (Harris County Shelter); still very much a pup. Chloe can be a bit shy at first but quickly becomes prancy, happy, and free with her kisses: Chloe steals people's hearts the instant she is allowed to bounce into their arms. She adores stuffed toys and dad's sock, which she takes to her bed with her. She is a cuddle bug who is very grateful for attention and hugs; gets along well with the resident Sheltie and wants to play; walks well on leash. On walks, she happily greets both children and adults who all pronounce her a precious angel. Chloe was adopted by her foster mom and is enjoying her new life, including a recent trip to the beach.
CHOICE--Summer 2003. Stunning 5yo (family clinic records show DOB as 6/23/98) shaded S/W male OR with full white collar and pencil blaze. Choice is from Austin (his owner died, and surviving spouse is no longer able to care for him). He had been well loved and cared for, coming into the program in perfect health; he had also had obedience and agility training. Choice is a bit shy but very gentle, fine with other dogs; loves car rides and enjoys going for walks. He has gone through a lot of changes in his life and needed time to adjust; his foster mom gave him just that and then adopted him so that he is now forever home. She reports that he has settled right into the family, with a special relationship with Dad, guarding them both from imagined bad guys at the door and the recliner, which is apparently a rough dude to be mastered. Choice is their precious baby, and he recently came to one of our spring picnics, which he enjoyed immensely, more gorgeous than ever, and totally bonded with mom and dad.
CHRISTY (Formerly Sherry) -- Winter 2004.  Christy is a precious 6yo S/W OR who was quickly adopted by her loving Austin family. They report she is a complete delight and pleasure, always wagging her tail, prancing, and smiling.  She makes them "feel like VIP's." She adores her new cousin, her mom's grandbaby, and they play 'fetch' with her ball. Christy has been pronounced the most fabulous dog in the world by her adoring family.
CISCO -- Spring 2002. 4-5yo Mahogany S/W male from Beaumont shelter; he was unclaimed for several days.  He has a 'star' patch on his neck and white chest rather than full white ruff.  He tested HW+, but successfully completed treatment after a very rough time. He experienced a collapsed lung, and had to be in emergency care in one of our hospitals. However, he responded well to rest and medication, is now cured, full of smiles, tail wags, and lots of kisses. He is absolutely adorable; very cute, sweet, and affectionate  At the recent dog show, he was a greeter for all the guests at our booth.  Cisco has been adopted by a family who met him at the dog show and moved quickly to make him part of their family and give him the loving care he deserves.
CISSIE -- Spring 2005. Pretty Cissie is a Sheltie X from Texas City; an OR due to divorce. She is a very healthy 2yo sweetheart: very responsive, knows basic obedience commands and shakes hands. She is extremely friendly: will give her paw and then a hug; wriggles happily with attention and loves to give kisses. Our clinic staff exclaimed over her "gorgeous face." Cissie did so beautifully in foster care, bonding completely with the family, that she and her mom decided she was already in her forever home.
COCO -- Winter 2006. Coco and Carter were found in Corpus; rescuer tried for several weeks to locate owners before relinquishing to the program. Coca is a 4-5yo, S/W, but had skin inflammations, ear infections, matted, gummy coat; and bad teeth; she also was covered in fleas and ticks and has recovered from resultant anemia; she has apparently had puppies in her time. Coco is very sweet and so happy to get a bath and gentle grooming in loving rescue care. Her foster mom reports that she knows how to "high five." She sits prettily and then will hold her paw up until you high five; then put her other paw up for a matching high five. She has happily settled in, finding her favorite pillows already. Her foster mom writes, "Coco is just beautiful, and she is now completely housetrained and crate trained. She’s going right into the crate with simple directions. 'Time to go to bed, Coco…or… Please go into your crate, Coco.'  Such a smart girl! She’s so great with all our shelties, actually having a bit closer relationship with Sunny than the rest – that’s a bit unusual because Handsome Danny usually gets all the attention from the girls!" Coco's delighted new family writes, "all is well and we are just crazy about her. She is so affectionate and loveable...perfect for our household. I want to thank you for all your efforts in finding good homes for these special animals. They deserve to have good homes and without people like you who give your time it wouldn't happen."
CODY (Formerly Nigel) -- Fall 2003. Found running as a stray in NW Houston and rescued by a kind resident who took care of his initial medical needs and called us, this Golden S/W cutie pie is 10-12 months old. Nigel is an itty-bitty, prancy delight: he is young and high energy: quite a little firecracker who immediately flips over for belly rubs and never met a stranger. Unfortunately, he tested HW+ and had to go through the treatments. However, because he also had whip and hookworms, had suffered some facial cuts and scratches from an apparent encounter with another dog while he was lost out there, and is so young, we felt he was a bit fragile and wanted to get his immediate medical needs tended before beginning heartworm treatments. He is now recovered and happily adopted by his foster mom: he has new mom, dad, and Sheltie sister, Lacy.
CODY 2 --  Summer 2004. This beautiful boy was an OTI to Montgomery County Animal Service Center; family is moving. MCAC works very closely with rescue and called us the same day so that he didn't have to spend too long in the shelter, which he was already upset about. He is a gorgeous 5yo Sable Merle, but when we picked him up, he was also filthy and heavily matted; had apparently spent most of his time in the back yard. The mats were so bad, the clinic needed to shave him. Cody was very relieved to be rescued, tentatively wagging his tail, and then climbing into his rescuer's arms. He even showed a bit of posing and lovely Sheltie gait as his confidence grew. His foster mom reports that he gets along well with the resident dogs and is a complete love. Cody is now happily adopted and enjoying a loving forever home at last.
COLBY -- Fall 2003. Cutie-Pie 2yo little guy at 14", 18#; Colby, came into the program very underweight and malnourished, dirty and heavily matted. He tested HW+ and had to go through the treatment, which he successfully completed without any setbacks. His foster mom says he's a pistol: a high energy dog who likes to dig for mysterious things under the ground and chase flying bugs because that may have been his only entertainment in his previous life. He has learned sit and stay; walks well on leash. He is gaining needed weight and coat now that he is cured of HW disease. Colby's new mom drove from Austin to meet him at the spring picnic and take him home to his new life filled with love and devotion.
COLE -- Fall 2003. Beautiful Cole came into the program from Brazoria County shelter originally in the Fall 2003. He arrived very underweight; he was out there alone, fending for himself for a long time. Cole had literally been trying to stay alive by finding food in any available trash cans. Amazingly, he tested HW-. We had adopted Cole last year, but the home returned him to the program this month for personal reasons having nothing to do with this sweet boy and want the best for him. He is in very good shape: a 9yo, shaded S/W, 24#, and 15", UTD, and neutered, though he is now hypothyroid and is on daily medication, which is very inexpensive, and the same medication humans with the condition take. Cole also has a heart murmur, as do many humans; we have had it checked out, and it doesn't seem to cause him problems. He will go for walks, but doesn't really want to run. Cole is very sweet, loves everyone, and particularly likes his foster dad. His foster mom says he is beautifully house trained, has wonderful manners, and is a complete gentleman. Cole suffers from hearing loss and would probably like a quiet home with a mature family. He found that home in our program and now lives in Corpus with his thrilled mom.
COLIN -- Summer 2003. From an area shelter. Gorgeous 8yo classic S/W male with full collar and tipped ears.. Although he needed a dental cleaning and bath, he is otherwise extremely healthy. His rescuer said he came smiling and bouncing to her, happily jumped in the car, sat snuggled up with her son, and ready to begin his new life. His foster mom is one of our veterans, and she thought he is the neatest foster she has had the pleasure of working with. Colin is housetrained, friendly, loving, beautifully behaved. He enjoys children and playing with other dogs; is simply a delightful boy. Colin was quickly adopted by his new family who pronounce him the most perfect of dogs.
COLONEL -- 2005 Summer 2005 This beautiful boy is an OR into the program when his former family moved. He is 4yo, with nice collar and tipped ears. He was nervous and confused at first, but he quickly trusts and bonds with his human, warming up once he feels safe. In foster care he settled in nicely, a wonderful boy who gets along with people and other dogs. Colonel is playing tug-of-war with resident Shelties and if you are sitting down and pat your chest, he willingly jumps in your lap for cuddles and tummy rubs. He won't jump up unless he is asked. He also enjoys his morning play time with foster dad chasing the hand under the covers game and playing with toys. Colonel came to the 7th Anniversary picnic, and though a bit shy with all that was going on, enjoyed himself with his foster parents. This lovely, sweet boy is now adopted into his forever home and taking care of his family who had two previous Shelties and knew exactly what they wanted when they adopted the Colonel.
CONNOR -- Summer 2003.  From Harris County Animal Control where he was unclaimed after the requisite holding period. Connor is a 2yo Sable CHW; very rare color and the first we've had in our program. This adorable little guy is about 2yo, was very underweight at 12.8#, and his coat needed work, shorter than it should be probably from exposure. Otherwise, he is healthy, and on the road to weight gain and coat work. His rescuer says he is very friendly and prances happily, obviously delighted to be on his way to a new life. He loves to be brushed; is a lively, yet gentle boy, bouncing through life seeking equally a playmate or a lap to snuggle in. Connor was adopted by our volunteers, Miles and Jan, whose eyes shine when they talk about how well he is doing with them and their resident Sheltie, Duffy.
COPPER -- Fall 2002. 4-5yo S/W male; an OR. He is very sweet and quite beautiful with thick coat coming back in after being shaved; lovely full collar and blaze. He sits and shakes hands prettily; adores children and likes to be close to them. Copper has been adopted by a delighted family who celebrated their one-year anniversary recently and wrote that he continues to be "a dream and a blessing to our family."

COOPER -- Summer 2005 (formerly Bandit 6). Bandit and Outlaw (now adopted) are 1yo brothers who came into the program because the family didn't want them any longer. The boys are in that gangly adolescent stage and had been shaved before they came into the program, so they needed to grow coat over the fall & winter; most males are not fully coated until at least age 2, sometimes 3. Their coats are coming in nicely now. Bandit has a very sweet, lively personality. His foster parents say he is a love sponge who enjoys cuddles and belly rubs. He can be a bit shy with people, but warms up; is learning about toys, crates, and leashes--adjusting well. He likes to play with the resident Sheltie and is a young 'talker,' has comments on everything. Bandit came to the dog show and was one of our principal greeters, great with adults, kids, and other dogs in the booth. His foster parents say he continues to be a delight and has tons of puppy energy; other times he wants to snuggle and soak up the attention. This adorable baby is now adopted and goes to work with his delighted dad.
CORY -- Summer 2001. Found on the S/W side of Houston and unclaimed, Cory is a 5-6yo gorgeous shaded S/W male. Cory tested positive for hookworms, whip worms, and heartworms. He also had a pretty severe ear infection. Since successfully completing all his medical treatments and also being treated him with glucosamine for mild arthritis, Cory has blossomed. He gets along well with other dogs and with cats; is wonderful with children; he is extremely active and loves to play fetch. His sunny personality makes Cory an adorable little guy. Since his adoption, Cory is enjoying his walks, cuddles, and sleeping happily on mom's bed.
CORY 2 -- Fall 2004. From Cedar Park, Cory is a 3-4yo beautifully marked Tri with a sweet disposition. Cory is precious: a bit shy at first but quickly warming up and crawling in his human's lap for cuddles. Cory shows signs of being abused, as he 'flattens' at hands coming toward him, but he quickly relaxes and hugs his humans: his foster mom says he craves attention and is very loving. Cory was quickly adopted by his delighted forever home and is enjoying the TLC he deserves.
COUGAR -- Summer 2005. This handsome gentleman is a 2-3yo S/W male, who came into the program overweight but otherwise very healthy. He was found in Houston and relinquished to the program when owners were not located. Cougar is very sweet and personable, good with children and other pets. When he met his new mom and dad, he knew they wanted him and that he was going home. Sweet Cougar was quickly adopted and is enjoying his new life with loving mom and dad. He has lost weight, is enjoying his walks, learning basic obedience, playing chase with his ball. His mom says he's very clever: when he gets tired of chase, he hides the ball. This boy's lonely sojourn has come to a delightful new adventure with his happy family.
CYBIL -- Spring 2004. This adorable little girl was found as a stray in New Caney. She had been running for quite a while before she was rescued, and the kind finder was eventually able to entice her into safe haven. Signs were posted to no response, and the finder then called us to accept her into our program. Cybil is 2-3yo, tiny, and unfortunately had HW disease, but she recovered beautifully. She sits on command very prettily, prances, and is quite friendly. Our doctor thinks she has had puppies in her time. She's a darling: does spins and happily pats her humans; she is not a "lap dog," but wants to be close to her humans; she gets along with kids, other dogs, and kitties. Cybil was adopted by an HSS family who also adopted our Laredo: so cute Cybil now has her own family and Sheltie brother to play with.

Before Adoption, all HSS Shelties are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and treated for initial ailments as possible within the scope of our rescue program.
