15 breeds. One very special girl. And enough energy to power the whole house! 😂❤️
Meet Farrah, one of the sweetest, funniest, smartest, and most entertaining girls to come through Houston Sheltie Sanctuary!
Farrah came to HSS as a stray after being found wandering the streets. When she first arrived, her adorable looks had everyone thinking she must have some Sheltie in her. Well… her DNA had other plans! 😂
Her DNA test revealed a whopping 15 different breeds! Her biggest contributors are:
🐾 30% Australian Shepherd
🐾 28% Miniature American Shepherd
🐾 13% Siberian Husky
🐾 4% American Pit Bull Terrier
🐾 4% Rottweiler
🐾 3% German Shepherd
🐾 3% Great Pyrenees
🐾 3% Chow Chow
🐾 3% Rhodesian Ridgeback
🐾 2% Australian Cattle Dog
🐾 2% American Staffordshire Terrier
🐾 2% American Cocker Spaniel
🐾 1% Alaskan Malamute
🐾 1% Carolina Dog
🐾 1% American Eskimo Dog
At approximately 1½ years old, Farrah is still very much a puppy at heart. She is incredibly smart, athletic, curious, and—thanks in large part to that Husky side—VERY active!
And when we say active, we mean ACTIVE. 😂
Farrah is an absolute escape artist. If there is a way out, over, around, or through something, she will probably find it. She can fly over things you wouldn’t expect her to clear, and she is FAST. A securely fenced yard is an absolute must for this girl.
But here’s the thing about Farrah…
She is one of the sweetest dogs you will ever meet. ❤️
Farrah loves people. She loves everybody. Big people, little people, young people, old people—she hasn’t met many humans she doesn’t like. She may be a little shy for approximately two seconds when meeting someone new, but once she knows you’re friendly, that’s it. You’re her new best friend!
And she doesn’t just want affection—she wants ALL the affection. 😂 She will happily climb right into your face for kisses and cuddles because she wants to love on you just as much as she wants you to love on her.
Farrah is currently fostered in a home with other Shelties and gets along well with the other dogs. She absolutely LOVES to play and has no problem jumping right into the action.
However, Farrah needs the right canine companion.
She plays hard. Really hard. She is strong, fast, energetic, and loves to chase, wrestle, run, and roughhouse. Farrah is not aggressive or mean, but she is a physical player. She needs another dog who can go toe-to-toe with her, match her strength and energy, and genuinely enjoy that kind of play.
Her ideal canine companion would be a confident, playful dog who doesn’t take rough play personally. A dog who is too sensitive, easily intimidated, or prefers quiet, gentle play probably isn’t going to appreciate Farrah’s particular style of fun.
Farrah does understand canine boundaries. If another dog tells her, “Okay, I’m done. Leave me alone,” she will listen. She may push her limits and test their patience a little first, but she isn’t looking for a fight.
What she needs is a dog who can give it right back and then get up five minutes later and say, “Okay, let’s do that again!” 😂
In other words, Farrah needs a playmate, not a roommate. ❤️
She would do best with a young, energetic dog close to her size and strength who enjoys physical play and isn’t going to respond harshly when Farrah gets a little too enthusiastic. The wrong match could create conflict, while the right match could give Farrah the best canine friend she could ever ask for.
Farrah is also very smart and eager to please her person. She loves toys, loves to fetch, and is willing to learn pretty much anything you want to teach her. With her speed, athleticism, intelligence, curiosity, and drive, we think she could have an absolute blast doing agility, scent work, or another active dog sport.
She needs daily exercise and mental stimulation. A backyard where she can run and play is a huge plus, but she’ll also need someone willing to get out and do things with her.
And don’t worry—Farrah is happy to be your adventure buddy! 🚗
She LOVES car rides, hops right into the car, and is happiest when she’s with her people. If you travel, she would love to go with you. If you work somewhere she can accompany you, she’d probably happily volunteer to be your office assistant. 😂
She just wants to be with her person. Farrah has no food aggression whatsoever, and she gets along well with the other dogs at mealtime. However, she does have one tiny problem…She believes unattended food belongs to her. 😂
Counter surfing is definitely one of her hobbies, and if there is an empty food bowl sitting around, she will gladly take care of that too. Her forever family will need to keep food safely out of reach because Farrah is not opposed to getting creative when there’s a snack involved!
And then there’s her adorable little Aussie nub. ❤️
That little tail NEVER STOPS! It goes so fast that you can hear it smacking against the side of a table, wall, or whatever happens to be nearby. It is one of the cutest things you’ll ever see.
Farrah will kill you with kindness and cuteness, turn around and do something completely mischievous, and then come right back and look at you like:
“But I’m adorable… so we’re good, right?” 😇😂

And once she finds them, she’s going to love them with every ounce of her 15-breed, wiggly-tailed, mischievous little self. 🐾❤️
