❤️ TEDDY IS STILL WAITING FOR HIS FOREVER HOME! ❤️
Meet Teddy — a 2-year-old tri-color boy (DOB 09/21/2024) who is still waiting for someone to see just how special he is.
Teddy is one of those dogs who is simply FULL of life. He is goofy, affectionate, incredibly smart, athletic, and always ready for the next adventure. He has a huge personality packed into one very energetic Sheltie!
And while Teddy has made so much progress in foster care, he is still waiting for the right person to recognize that his energy and quirks aren’t flaws — they are part of what makes Teddy, Teddy. ❤️
When Teddy first came into rescue, he had very little socialization and minimal training. He had spent most of his young life in one home and simply hadn’t had the opportunity to learn much about the world.
Since then, he has been learning A LOT.
Teddy is exceptionally intelligent and learns new commands incredibly quickly. In fact, sometimes he gets so excited to show you what he knows that he’ll run through his entire trick repertoire without being asked! 😂
He knows:
🐾 Place
🐾 Sit
🐾 Down
🐾 Paw
🐾 Sit-Up/”Pretty”
🐾 Wait
🐾 Release
🐾 Kennel for meals
🐾 Sit and wait until released to eat
And he continues to work on his recall and other skills.
Teddy is also incredibly athletic. Lightning fast, agile, and absolutely convinced that every obstacle is simply a suggestion. If there’s something in his way, he’ll either go around it — or clear it in one spectacular leap.
He LOVES to run, chase, be chased, and play fetch. He is happiest when he’s moving, learning, playing, or doing something with his people.
Basically, Teddy has two speeds:
GO… and asleep. 😂
And when he finally does crash, he goes from 100 mph to completely passed out in about three seconds. Then he wakes up and the battery is fully charged again!
Because of Teddy’s energy level, his ideal home is not a quiet, sedentary household. He needs people who genuinely enjoy an active dog and want to include him in their lives.
Even better, Teddy would love a young, playful canine companion who enjoys a good game of chase and can keep up with him. Teddy LOVES to play and can be persistent with his invitations, so his doggy sibling needs to be confident, tolerant, and able to communicate, “Dude… I’m done now.” 😂
He does very well with confident, balanced dogs who aren’t easily overwhelmed by his enthusiasm.
Teddy also needs mental stimulation. He is incredibly smart, and a home willing to give him a job would be ideal. Agility, obedience, scent work, trick training, or another dog sport could be a fantastic outlet for this boy.
Teddy does best when he has something to do.
When he gets bored, he’ll find his own entertainment — and his idea of entertainment isn’t always the same as yours. Think of him as a very athletic, very smart toddler who needs a project. 😉
❤️ BUT TEDDY IS MORE THAN JUST ENERGY.
He’s incredibly affectionate with his people and loves being involved. He wants to interact, play, learn, and be part of the action.
He is also continuing to build confidence in the outside world. New people and unfamiliar places can make him nervous because he simply didn’t have much exposure to them during the first part of his life. He has shown no aggression because of this — he just needs patience, continued socialization, and positive experiences.
He walks on leash, although he can pull in unfamiliar environments. His recall is still a work in progress, and because he may run if he gets loose, a secure environment and continued training are important.
Teddy is also continuing to work on some food-related behavior around other dogs. At times, he may growl or posture around his food, although it has been inconsistent and limited to feeding situations. He takes treats gently, has no problem taking treats around other dogs, and allows his foster mom to handle or interrupt him while eating.
With structure and appropriate feeding management, he is doing well and continues to learn that he doesn’t need to compete for resources.
And yes — Teddy is potty-trained and has been neutered. He does occasionally have a little excited tinkle when he becomes overstimulated and is touched or greeted. It seems to surprise him just as much as everyone else! 😂
Teddy isn’t looking for just any home.
He needs the right home.

🐕 A young, playful, confident dog would be a huge plus
🧠 Someone who enjoys training and mental stimulation
🎾 Someone who wants a dog to DO things with
❤️ Someone patient enough to continue building his confidence
🏡 A secure environment
✨ And someone who appreciates a dog with a BIG personality
Teddy has so much potential.
He is smart.
He is athletic.
He is affectionate.
He is hilarious.
He is eager to learn.
And he has SO much love and life to give.
He just needs someone willing to put in the time and give him the kind of life where all of that energy has somewhere positive to go.
Teddy is still waiting. 💔
